Why We Started Lone Star Drafts

We are Alex & Jenn, co-owners and founders of Lone Star Drafts.  We started this company shortly after Alex got married.  When Alex got engaged in early 2019 and began to plan for his wedding, he knew he wanted something beautiful, unique, and affordable when it came to his wedding bar.  He started to look at what was available in the area- there were an overwhelming number of options, but none that fitted exactly what he was looking for.

After conducting an exhaustive search for a bartending service that could meet his needs, he found that our options fell into one of these 4 categories:

  1. Completely DIY- Plan everything, do everything, and take on a lot of work and liability.  Ugh!
  2. Partial DIY & Cheap- Plan and do most, but pay a few people to stand behind a table and open cans of beer for your guests.  Doesn’t look great but at least saves money and removes the liability of the total DIY.
  3. Deluxe bartending- Pay a company a huge amount of money per guest to provide everything.  Total bill for our wedding would have been several thousand dollars.  Yikes!
  4. A trailer- Although these can be very cute, we didn’t really want a giant trailer or van and our venue didn’t have a good place for one.  Plus with the unpredictable Texas weather, we didn’t want to leave the chance that our guests would be trekking out into the rain or cold for their drink.

Being a woodworker, home brewer, and having experience in hospitality, he set out to forge a better bar for his wedding that would be beautiful, serve delicious drinks, and not break the bank.  When he started to show family and friends what he created, it became clear he was on to something.  As more of our friends started to get married and interest grew, he knew he had to share this with the world.  Jenn came on board to help bring marketing and sales experience, and thus Lone Star Drafts was born!

We now make it our mission to serve incredible drinks out of beautiful bars, make each and every guest smile, and make the bride and groom or event planner’s job as easy as possible. Nobody should have to settle for a boring bar on their big day!
